Frances A. "Aldine" Smith, 87, a resident of the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, formerly of King, passed away Tuesday at the Village.
She was born in McKee, daughter of the late Thomas and Maggie (Claar) Sell. She married Thomas W. "Bill" Smith on July 3, 1946, in Claysburg, and he passed away Nov. 2, 2005.
Surviving are her only daughter, Iris P. Fickes and husband, Steven, of King; four grandchildren: Doreen Fickes, Denise Becker and husband, John, and Deann Reilly and husband, Greg, all of King, and Samuel Fickes and wife, Mandi, of Osterburg; three great-grandchildren: Zachary and Allison Becker and soon-to-arrive Elizabeth Gail Fickes; and a sister, Agnes "Becky" Smith.
She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Emily Becker; two sisters: Mary Fickes and Dorothy Eicher; and nine brothers: Lawrence, Nelson, David, Harry, Roy, Burdine, Simon, Chauncey and Charles Oliver Sell.
Aldine was a 1945 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, music and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Claysburg Bible Church, 11751 William Penn Road, Imler, Pastor Keith Showalter officiating. Interment will be at Sproul Cemetery.
