William L. O'Donnell, 74, Beaver Valley, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born in Utahville, son of the late Benjamin E. and Dorothy M. (Roach) O'Donnell. He married Shirley "Cookie" Barnhart on Sept. 3, 1960, in Beaver Valley.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: Brad R. (Michelle Sahm) and their sons Bradley J. and Shea B., all of Flinton, and Bruce W. (Lisa Callahan) of Coalport; four siblings: Edward J. of Fallentimber, Alice J. of Glasgow, Benjamin W. of Utahville and Dennis P. of Irvona.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brittany; and an infant sister.
Bill was a 1956 graduate of B-C-I High School. He served in the U.S. Army.
Bill had been employed as a miner at Barnes and Tucker Mine #20, Nicktown and then as a truck driver for Martin Oil Co., Bellwood, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Faith Tabernacle Congregation, Beaver Valley. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching his grandsons' sporting events.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 27, 2013, and from 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral service Wednesday Aug. 28, 2013, at McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow, Pastor Warren Yeager officiating. Burial will be in Beaver Valley Cemetery, Flinton.
