William D. Fortney, 80, Ocean Pines, Md., formerly of Antis Township, died Wednesday at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md.
He was born in Blandburg, son of the late William Clyde and Esther (Bates) Fortney. He married Josephine A. "Jo" Benedetto on June 9, 1956, in Blandburg.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: David B. of Elkridge, Md., and Patrick L. of Gambrills, Md.; and three grandchildren: David, Tyler and Kyle.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Edward, in 1993; a brother, Edward; a sister, Beverly; and two half sisters: Marjorie Thompson and Lorraine Davis.
Bill was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired as an electrical engineer at NASA. He was a member of the Community Church of Ocean Pines, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association and Blair County and National Horseshoe Leagues. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood, the Rev. Robert Kennedy officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
