Robert E. "Bobby" Lestochi, 76, Van Zandt VA Medical Center, passed away Thursday at the center after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Albert J. and Mildred L. (Dodson) Lestochi. He was formerly married to the late Tonia Figliorenzo.
Surviving are a son, Brent R. Banholzer of Irvona; two grandchildren: Jon David Banholzer and Liberty Saylor-Banholzer, both of Irvona; a sister, Georgette (Haley) Maccinile of Altoona; a niece, Karen (Dan) Nardozza, and a nephew, Steven (Theresa) Maccinile, both of Altoona; a special friend, Bill Hite of Hollidaysburg; and many cousins.
Bobby was a graduate of Altoona High School. He retired with 20 years of service from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He and his sister, Georgette, also owned and operated Al's Pizza House in Altoona. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and a life member of the Air Force Association, Air Force Sergeants Association, American Legion and Duncansville VFW.
Bobby most enjoyed playing the lottery, cooking and taking care of his many cats.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.
