Mary E. Kozak, 94, a resident of Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Gallitzin, died Tuesday at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Gallitzin, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Szurek) Novak.
Surviving are two daughters: Nancy (John) Yanosky of Huntsville, Ala., and Elaine (Karl) Yodzevicis of Rose City, Mich.; four grandchildren: Kristy (Rick) Acker, Kirk (Shannon) Yodzevicis, Melissa Baxter and Mark (Jenny) Yanosky; 11 great-grandchildren: Savannah and Ian Baxter, Vann, Kyra and Trey Acker, Jackson, John Michael and Margaret Yanosky and Jack, Ethan and Skylar Yodzevicis; and a sister, Julie "Nina" Bertanzetti of Cresson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, on March 9, 1992; a sister, Josephine Rozansky; and three brothers: Frank, Stanley and John.
Mary worked at Publix Shirt Factory as a seamstress, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the former St. Mary Catholic Church, now St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her family, as well as cooking, sewing and gardening.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where a vigil service will be held Thursday afternoon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Monsignor Bernard Przybocki as celebrant. Committal will be at Calvary Mausoleum, Altoona.
