Lewis J. "Jim" Butterbaugh Jr., 59, of 191 Ball Park Road, Laceyville, passed away suddenly Saturday evening in Altoona while visiting his mother and brother.
He was born in Altoona, son of Janet Irene (Hann) Butterbaugh and the late Lewis J. Butterbaugh Sr., who passed away in 1985.
Surviving are his mother of Altoona; his wife, Nancy (Smith); three children: Brenda Louise Smiley of New Albany, Shelly Mae (Andrew) Dexter of New Albany and Joseph James Allen of Laceyville; two grandsons: Joseph Allen of Mehoopany and Garrett Dexter of New Albany; a brother, Richard (Maria) of Altoona; two sisters: Laurie (Jim) Mills of Altoona and Joanna (Favor) Thomas of Johnstown; a special cousin, William (Lisa) Hann of Altoona; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was a 1971 graduate of Altoona Area High School. For many years, he was a forklift operator until a disability forced his retirement. He was a member of the Tri-County Sportsman's Club in Silvara and the Hughesville Rod and Gun Club in Hughesville.
In his spare time, Jim enjoyed hunting, woodworking and furniture making, and he cherished the time spent with his family and friends, especially his new grandson, Garrett.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no service. Friends will be received from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Laceyville. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.
