Homan earns medal play title by two at Park Hills

Todd Homan fired a 142 to take the championship flight of the Park Hills Country Club's Men's Medal Play Championship by two strokes over Jordan Kirsch (144). Bill Allen (147) finished third.

Don Brown took the first flight with a 158, while Jeff Wolfe (161) was second, and Ray Kallai (174) was third. Matt Baker won the second flight with a 179, while Lee Fink (186) was second, and Tim Leach (194) was third.

Ken Gardner won the third flight with a 189, while Wayne Apple (199) was second, and Dave Dwyer (200) was third. Darlene Grove took the Ladies Medal Play title with a 175, while Cindy Trimarco (180) took second, and Jill Hileman (187) was third.

Homan, Kirsch, Allen and JP Stultz were the male qualifiers for the Greater Altoona Open, while Grove, Trimarco, Hileman and Nancy Moore were the female qualifiers.

Summit

CRESSON - David DeGol Jr. carded a 142 to win the championship flight of the Summit Country Club's Stroke Play Club Championship for the second straight year by a stroke over Brent Krug (143) and three over Steve DeStafano (145) last weekend.

Guido Fabbri won the first flight with a 148, while Ian Dunmyer (152) was second, and Brady Eckenrode (153) was third. Shawn Kelly won the second flight with a 160, while Derek Fink (164) was second. Mike Funicelli captured the third flight with a 174, while Fran Nazit (175) was second.

D.R. Nagle won the fourth flight with a 171, while Dick Cox (173) was second. Stan Wojcik took the fifth flight with a 188, while Tim Tragon and Vic Mastalski tied for second at 197.

Jessica Burlingame won the championship flight of the women's division club championship with a 167, while Anita Jo Petrusky (173) took second. Kate Conway won the first flight with a 184, while Therese Perino (196) placed second. Diana Naugle took the second flight with a 243, while Carrie Fogel (252) finished second.

Ian Dunmyer won the Augusta Flight of the Junior Club Championship with a 161 on Aug. 7, while Nolan Link (172) was second, Dillon Perino (174) was third, Derek Olsick (180) was fourth and Donte Perino (182) was fifth.

Jake Stevens won the Merion Flight with a 184, while Jared Buck (192) was second, and Collin Reese (193) was third. Devin Selip and Tyler Smolko tied fourth at 200, while Matt Wray (203) was sixth.

Braedon O'Donnell won the nine-hole Oak Hill Flight with a 101, while Brock Talko (113) was second, and Cade Newton (115) was third. Tanner Perrone and Cameron Dunmyer tied for fourth at 111.

Brady Eckenrode carded a 153 to win the gross division of the 50-59 age group of the Senior Club Championship last weekend, while Doug Frank (155) was second, and Mitch Johns (157) was third. John Dziabo and Bill Snyder tied for the net division of the 50-59 group at 141, while Rich Patton (146) was third.

Rick Holtz won the gross of the 60 and over group with a 153, while Neil Rapski and Gary Naugle tied for second at 156. Nagle won the net division with a 137, while Cox was second at 139. Jack Shaffer and Tom Angle tied for third at 141.

On Monday, the team of Bill Wilkinson, Will Wilkinson, Larry Audley and Todd Burkett won a one-hole playoff against Rob Capelli, Zak Newton, Jackie Moschgat and Matt Repko to take the Cresson Lions Club Benefit Golf Outing after both teams scored 57 in regulation.

Skill prize winners were Capelli (longest drive on 3), Jack Moschgat (closest tee shot on 4), Jim Rifilato (closest tee shot on 8), Dave Burns (closest tee shot on 12), Tim Dzurko (closest tee shot on 15) and Matt Wray (longest putt on 18).

King Valley

IMLER - Jon Madey took the low gross in the championship flight of the King Valley Golf Course's Club Championship, while Tyler Brown finished second last weekend. Scott Bracken had the low net, while Wes Furry was second.

Brad Kaiser had the low gross of the first flight, while Dave Thrower was second, and Walt Rhoades was third. Dave Salome had the low net, while Ron Brown was second, and Ron Bowser was third.

Gary Knisely Sr. had the low gross of the senior flight, while Bruce Helsel was second. Jordan Barefoot had the low net, while Terry Ketner took second.

Sinking Valley

TYRONE - Gary and Ryan Claar carded a 122.3 net to take first place in the Sinking Valley Country Club's Member Guest Tournament, while Mike Seidel and Tom Getz (124.2) finished second.

Don Filby and Jerry Smith (126.4) placed third, while Dave Grine and Hank Haranin (127.6) took fourth.

Greg Ferguson and Andy Cameron took the gross division with a 139, while Matt Brooks and Jason Tuscovich (142) finished second. Jeff Chestney and Cody Beach (145) finished third, while Paul Tryninewski and Bill Bow (146) took fourth.

In the alternate shot event on Saturday, Ferguson and Cameron had the low gross of 36, while Tryninewski and Bow and Chestney and Beach tied for second at 37. Seidel and Getz had the low net of 32.2, while Bob Nelson and Alison Weimer (32.6) took second. There was a tie for third at 33 between Filby and Smith and Dan and Aaron McFarland.

In the scramble, Brooks and Tuscovich had the low gross of 30. Five teams tied for second at 34, including Ferguson and Cameron, Ron Shaffer and Jim Griffith, Steve Turiano and Scott Meredith, Ron Hippo and Bob Zeigler and Chestney abd Beach. Filby and Smith had the low net of 29.4, while there was a tie for second between Gordie Ellis and Tom Saylor and Gary and Ryan Claar.

The Claars had the low net of 58 in the Sunday Best Ball, while John Graham and Dave Ditzler (59) took second. Fred Miller and Ron Horner (60) finished third, while Seidel and Getz (61) placed fourth.

Ferguson and Cameron had the low gross of 69, while Brooks and Tuscovich (71) took second. Filby and Smith (72) finished third, while Turiano and Meredith (72) took fourth.

Closest to the pin winners were Bow (No. 2) and Smith (No. 10) on Saturday and Fred Miller and Emily Bickel (No. 10) on Sunday.

Philipsburg

PHILIPSBURG - Kelly and Eric Reifer carded a 116 to win the net division of the Philipsburg Country Club's Member Guest Tournament by two strokes over Charlie and Rick Haversack (118) on Sunday.

Bo and Doug Sankey (122) finished third, and Bill Phillips and George DelBaggio (123) took fourth.

Pat and Brad Brown won the gross division with a 128, while Matt Johnson and Scott Olson (138) took second, and Dave McCahan and Dave McCahan Jr. (139) placed third. Scott Nelson and Nick Gurol tied for fourth at 140 with Gary and Mike Helsel. Andy Reifer and Don Garlow won the mini tournament with a 60, while Todd and Jake Reifer (61) took second.

Todd and Jake Reifer won the Beat The Pro Practice Round with a 60, while Olson and Johnson tied for second at 61 with Bob Mitchell and Lynn Oakley. The Helsels tied for fourth at 62 with Trevor and Craig Danko. Doug Goss and Gary Anderson (63) placed sixth, while Rich and Rick Jones tied for seventh at 64 with Irv and Dank Myers. The pro team of Paul Fischer and Scott Frey (65) took ninth.

Sylvan Hills

HOLLIDAYSBURG - Marian Monios, Denise Madden, Linda King and Brenda Flick were the winners in the yellow ball game in the Sylvan Hills Ladies Golf Association event on Tuesday. Shirley Wilkinson had the longest putt.

Huntingdon

HUNTINGDON - Geoff Clarke had the low gross of 36, while Fred Lear had the low net of 33 in the Huntingdon Country Club's Big Orange Golf League.

Lear's drive on the 15th - 18 inches from the flag - and Larry Newton's drive on the 16th - 24 inches from the flag - were the shots of the day.
