M. Joanne (Lucas) Walter, 80, Hollidaysburg, died Wednesday after an extended illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Beatrice Lucas, and raised by her foster parents, George and Laura Campbell. She married Julius C. Walter on March 14, 1952, in Hollidaysburg.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters: Brenda of Sarasota, Fla., and Sandra Ritchey and husband, Steve, of Duncansville; two sons: Francis of Altoona and Van of Lapel, Ind.; seven grandchildren: Brett Walter, Brian Walter, Rachel Abbatangelo, Adam and Sara Hunter and Eric and Steve Ritchey; eight great-grandchildren; and a foster sister, Laurine (Campbell) Lindsay.
She was preceded in death by two foster brothers: Alvin and Dale Campbell; and two foster sisters: Kathleen Holland and Marie McCleary.
Joanne was a 1950 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of TOPS. She enjoyed watching wrestling, bird-watching and being with her family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at the chapel at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
