Frank A. Shatzer, 73, New Florence, passed away Tuesday at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Palmer and Hattie (Miller) Shatzer. He married Patricia Stultz on Feb. 16, 1962, in Indialantic, Fla., a loving marriage of 51 years.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Melanie of Pittsburgh; a brother, Donald "Dutch" of Rockledge, Fla.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Joseph, Wayne, Elmo and Francis; and a sister, Shirley Weaver.
Frank was a 1957 graduate of Williamsburg High School and attended Lock Haven University.
Prior to retiring from Penelec Conemaugh Generating Station, he was employed by Martin Marietta Corp. and The Boeing Co. at Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center.
Frank was a member of Seward United Methodist Church, F&AM Lodge 143 in Melbourne, Fla., and the Orlando Consistory of the Scottish Rite Bodies. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins, Pitt basketball and college football.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence, where a Masonic service will be held.
Friends will also be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Seward United Methodist Church, 213 Indiana St., Seward, Pastor Ruth A. Moore officiating. Military rites will be accorded at the church.
A private graveside service for immediate family will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
