Ribelle "Rae" DiGiacobbe, 94, Altoona, died Sunday morning at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness.
She was born in Mineral, Ark., daughter of the late Guiseppe and Sestina Gerardini. She married Hugo R. DiGiacobbe, M.D., on Feb. 19, 1944, in Detroit, Mich., and he died Jan. 28, 1981.
Surviving are four children: Michael A., Janette and Denise DiGiacobbe and Dana Ratchford and husband, Daniel, all of Altoona; four grandchildren: Daniel Ratchford Jr., Dara Johnson and husband, Brett, Denae Rogers and husband, Wesley, and Danyiel D'Antonio and husband, John; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Veni Mara of San Francisco, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Antonio Finu; and four siblings: Ginnetta DeMarco, Ida Fedon, Joseph Martin and Palmero "Pete" Gerardini.
Rae was a 1937 graduate of Prescott High School, Prescott, Mich. She was a homemaker and office assistant for Dr. DiGiacobbe. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altoona.
Rae was a past volunteer for the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.
At Rae's request, there will be no public visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at St. Rose of Lima Church, Altoona, Father Carl Spishak officiating. Committal rites will be held at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Tunnelhill.
