Verdabelle Rowan Fuoss, 88, formerly of Bellwood, passed away Sunday afternoon at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Holli-
She was born in Bellwood, daughter of the late Clair C. and Ruth (Meckling) Wulfert. She was twice married, first to John T. Rowan on Nov. 28, 1943, at First Methodist Church in Bellwood. He preceded her in death April 12, 1978. She then married Joseph E. Fuoss on April 28, 1984, and he preceded her in death Feb. 28, 2004.
Surviving are two daughters: Cheryl A. (Bob) Charlesen of Strasburg and Joanne L. (Jack) Russin of Bellwood; a son, John C. of Harrisburg; two stepchildren: Mark J. and Marcia J. Fuoss; eight grandchildren: Robert (Michele) Charlesen, Cheri (Andy) Modene, Beth A. Russin Dickinson, Jaclyn M. (Cayce) Onks, Christine L. (Jason) Miller and Adam, Sarah and Ben Fuoss; 11 great-grandchildren: Hunter and Haley Modene, Kaitlyn, Kole and Karley Dickinson, Sophia and Julia Onks, Addyson and Carter Miller and Nathan and Lauren Kovach; a sister, Donna O'Shell of Horseheads, N.Y.; her stepmother, Phyllis A. Gauntner; and a special friend, Vickie Craig.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clair "Sonny" Wulfert; and a sister, Eileen Berguson.
Verdabelle retired from Cornmesser Hardware after 23 years of service. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood, and a member of the United Methodist Women and Order of the Eastern Star, Tyrone. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards and dominos with her friends and especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood, the Rev. Robert Kennedy officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in Verdabelle's memory be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
