Daniel G. Houck Sr., 77, Hollidaysburg, died Friday at Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown. He was born in Altoona, son of the late John M. and Rev. Myrtle (Gearinger) Houck. He married Donna O. Williams on June 26, 1953, in Winchester, Va., and she preceded him in death on Jan. 13, 1995, after having shared 42 years of marriage.
Surviving are two daughters: Dawna "Squirrel" Walker and husband, Jim, and Sheryl Denise Gerlach and husband, Stan; five sons: Daniel Jr., Donald P., Harry F. and wife, Sue, Edward W., Craig A. Sr. and wife, Donna; and 10 grandchildren.
Daniel attended Hollidaysburg High School and served in the National Guard in peace time. He worked as a ride supervisor for Thompson Amusements, was a partner of Suburban Lawn Care and retired as plant foreman for National Cylinder Gas, Juniata.
Daniel was a member of Family Worship Center, Baton Rouge, La. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, his dogs, woodworking and sporting events.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2013, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2013, Pastor Ron Plowman officiating. Interment will be in Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
