Roger E. Claar, 66, Claysburg, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Queen, son of the late Chester and Edith (Harr) Claar. He married Carolyn S. Huffman on Jan. 6, 1968, in Ellerslie, Md.
Surviving are his wife; three children: Jody and wife, Karen, Lori "Buffy" Claar and Amy Gill and husband, Matthew, all of Claysburg; five grandchildren whom he adored: JR, Hannah, Katie, Sammy and Emma; a brother, Carl and wife, Sally, of Manns Choice; and four sisters: Shirley Weyant and husband, Don, and Rhonda Feathers and husband, Danny, all of Claysburg, and Carol Bollman and Mary Brown, both of Imler.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: John, Mayberry, Ronnie, Chet and Robert; and an infant grandson, Ryan Claar.
Roger was a member of Claysburg Church of God. He owned and operated Claar's Auto Sales in Claysburg for 44 years. His life was centered on his family, and he enjoyed traveling, cars and his farm. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 11 a.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at Claysburg Church of God, Pastor Marcus Tanner officiating. Interment will be at Greenfield Cemetery, Imler.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Claysburg Church of God, 4311 Evergreen Road, Claysburg, PA 16625.
