Dorothy F. "Dot" Ritchey, 71, Altoona, passed away Sunday at home and is now celebrating her eternal life with her Lord and Savior.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Turek) Schreiner. She was twice married, first to the late Art Nuttall, then to the late Duane Ritchey.
Surviving are three daughters: Dorothy, Teri and Michelle; a son, Art; eight grandchildren: Tricia, Nicole, Mindy, Annette, Erica, Steph, Josh and Alex; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Rita and Celeste.
Dot retired as a registered nurse from the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, where she enjoyed worshipping her beloved Lord at Mass. She also belonged to the Mary, Queen of Angels, Secular Franciscan Fraternity and was an avid pro-life supporter.
Dot enjoyed thrift shopping, cookouts and family get-togethers. She treasured her time spent with her grandchildren. She also looked forward to the visits from the hospice nurses, with whom she enjoyed talking. She was a very strong-willed person who lived and died her way, and she was truly an inspiration to everyone.
Friends will be received at the memorial Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Arrangements are by Santella Funeral Home.
