Elizabeth G. Swope, 83, Roaring Spring, died Sunday at Homewood at Martinsburg after an extended illness.
She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Russell and Elizabeth (Beck) Garver. She married Hunter Swope on Aug. 9, 1952, and he died July 21, 2005.
Surviving are two sons: Jonathan G. of Roaring Spring and Bradley H. of Savannah, Ga.; and a sister, Nancy Hoover of Roaring Spring.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Lang.
Elizabeth graduated from the George School in Philadelphia and Brown University in Providence, R.I. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring, and she enjoyed classical music, her pets, cooking, reading and volunteering at Nason Hospital.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, by Pastor Kevin Locker. Interment will be made in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.
Contributions in Elizabeth's memory may be given to the American Cancer Society.
