Momtaz Y. Saad, M.D., 74, Hollidaysburg, died Saturday at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, after an extended illness.
He was born in Tanta, Egypt, son of Youssef and Bahia (Rizkalla) Saad. He married Laila R. Dawood on Aug. 3, 1969, in Alexandria, Egypt.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Irini Youssef and husband, Maged, of Hollidaysburg and Vivian Youssef and husband, Akram, in Canada; a son, Mina and wife, Christine, of Hollidaysburg; five grandchildren: Peter and Mark Zaki, Patrick and Mariam Ibrahim and Michael Saad; a sister, Mary Guirguis in Florida; and a brother, Gamal Guirguis in California.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Victor.
Dr. Saad was a graduate of Alexandria School of Medicine and served in the Egyptian Army from 1967-74. He retired in 1999 as a urologist in Alexandria, Egypt. He was a member of St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church, Altoona, and also belonged to the Egyptian Urological Society and Medical Association of Egypt.
Dr. Saad enjoyed photography, walking, reading and playing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, by Father Barsoum Eshak. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church, 1910 19th St., Altoona, PA 16601.
