Charles Oliver "Ted" Baughman, 79, Fredericksburg, rural Martinsburg, passed away Saturday evening at UPMC Altoona after complications from COPD.
He was born in Imler, Bedford County, son of the late Robert W. and Olive (Brown) Baughman. He married Kathryn G. Holland on Oct. 12, 1958, in Martinsburg.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Carmen B. Bilek and husband, Ken, of Hollidaysburg and Carol D. Hagerty and husband, Chet, of Fredericksburg; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Samuel H. of Hollidaysburg; and two sisters: Donna J. Linn of Williamsburg and Gail S. Wise of Hollidaysburg.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachel Lynn Gensamer; and four brothers: R. Merle, William R., Edward E. and Benny L.
Ted was a 1951 graduate of Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1954-57 and attaining the rank of specialist third class. He retired as a truck driver after 32 years of service from Young's Inc., rural Roaring Spring, currently Cargill Inc., Martinsburg.
Ted was a member of Clover Creek Church of the Brethren and Bedford Moose Lodge 480. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and being in the outdoors. He also enjoyed going to auctions, puzzles, playing solitaire, and collecting and tinkering on heavy machinery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg, Pastor David F. Banaszak and Dr. Lew I. Button officiating. Interment with full military honors accorded by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Brumbaugh Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to his church or to your favorite local charity.
