Betty Louise Tremmel, 87, South Pasadena, Fla., died Monday with her loving family at her side. She went to Florida in 1973 from her native Altoona.
She was the daughter of Charles Shelbourn and Carrie Mae (Wolfinger) Smith. She married Lester William Tremmel on Dec. 22, 1951.
Surviving are two sons: Richard Lester and wife, Karen, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Joel Shelburn and wife, Mary Ann, of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Linda Knab and husband, Stephen, of Gilbert, Ariz.; four stepchildren: Ardyth Patricia Hughes and Joan May Kibler of Altoona, Sylvia Emma Hoehn of Lancaster and William Joseph "Bill" Tremmel of Altoona; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Jane Bowser of Escondido, Calif.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and two brothers: Donald Eugene "Don" Smith and Charles Robert "Bob" Smith.
Betty enjoyed reading and watching baseball and was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at Hope Lutheran Church, 1801 62nd Ave. N., St. Petersburg, Fla. Interment was at MacDuff Memorial Garden.
