Donald W. Detwiler, 92, Moon Township, formerly of Sewickley, passed into eternal rest Sunday.
He was born the seventh child of John and Eva (Mallory) Detwiler. He was the husband of the late Rita Jane (McNamara) Detwiler for 61 years.
Surviving are a son, Joel; a daughter, Sue; two grandchildren: Matt and Julie; a great-grandson, Jacob; and many nieces and nephews.
Don served in the U.S. Marine Corps in WWII in the South Pacific. As a former staff member of the Richard D. Cole Funeral Home Inc., Sewickley, he was one of the first to pass the state and national exam as a certified EMT. He attained scouting's highest honor as an Eagle Scout and was also a Mason and a Shriner.
Friends will be received from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Richard D. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 328 Beaver St., Sewickley.
Friends will also be received from 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, in the chapel of Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
Contributions may be made in Don's name to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
