Paul R. Rose, 81, of Altoona died Friday at his residence following a heart attack.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late George William and Anna Mabel (Stalb) Rose. He married Geraldine M. "Gerri" Tomlinson July 16, 1960, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona.
Surviving are his wife, Gerri; five children: Kathleen (Jerry) Davies of Dover, Del., Paul William (Brenda) of Altoona, Lorraine (Carl) Campbell of Lithicum, Md., Elizabeth Haun of Clearwater, Fla., and Stephen Mark of Altoona; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Lou McGinnis of Knoxville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis William.
Paul was a 1951 graduate of Altoona High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He retired as a tool and die maker from SKF in 1994 after 35 years of service.
He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and a life member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a Fourth Degree Knight. He also was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Paul enjoyed hunting, camping and reading.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James D. Zatalava as celebrant. Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 2012 12th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home, Altoona.
