Mona C. Hinish, 89, of Buffalo, N.Y., departed this world on Wednesday at the Hospice Center in Cheektowaga, N.Y., to be with her Savior and beloved family.
She was born in Broad Top City, the daughter of the late Caradoag and Eva (Woomer) Williams.
On April 20, 1946, she was united in marriage to Clair Hinish by the Rev. Gerald Marzolf in Maytown, Pa. Mr. Hinish preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 1996, after 50 years of marriage.
She is survived by her daughter, Claire Louise Wolfman of Williamsville, N.Y.; a grandson, William Caradoag Shaffer of Buffalo, N.Y.; a sister, Judith Davis, wife of James of Providence, N.C.; and a sister-in-law, Edna Poleck of Wood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Meredith Ross.
Mona was a member of the last class of the Broad Top Township High School, graduating on May 28, 1942. She later graduated from the practical nursing program at Trott Vocational School in Niagara Falls, N.Y., in February 1959. She worked at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and completed her career at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center in 1983.
She loved her Savior and family. She was giving to them and was always available to lend a helping hand to her neighbors. Mona was a prayer warrior, lifting prayers for those in need. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc., 5010 Railroad Ave., Broad Top City, Pa. 16621, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, with Pastor Carl Longwell of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment will take place in the IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top City.
