Trisha Weber of Bardstown, Ky., and Capt. Christopher R. Mathis of Altoona are engaged to be married.
Miss Weber is the daughter of Rhonda and Dan Weber of Bardstown.
She is a 2007 graduate of Nelson County High School, Bardstown, and a 2011 graduate of Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, with a major in news-editorial journalism.
Miss Weber is a staff and freelance writer for several publications including Evansville Living Magazine and The Kentucky Standard.
Capt. Mathis is the son of Julia Plummer Schokker and Johannes Schokker of Altoona and grandson of Mary Alice and Ray Plummer, also of Altoona.
He is a 2003 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School and a 2007 graduate of Slippery Rock University with a double major in international business and Spanish.
He is a captain in the U.S. Army Special Forces, having completed tours in Iraq, Germany and Afghanistan.
He is stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., and recently completed the Special Forces Combat Dive course in Key West, Fla.
An Aug. 17 wedding is being planned at St. Monica's Catholic Church, Bardstown.
