James Shubert Hileman Sr., 79, Hollidaysburg, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Geeseytown, son of John Shubert and Gladys T. (Mangus) Hileman. He married Margaret Joann Judy on June 14, 1957, at Geeseytown Lutheran Church, and she preceded him in death on April 8, 2012.
Surviving are a son, James Shubert II and wife, Dawn, of Hollidaysburg; two daughters: Elizabeth Joy Williams and husband, Kevin, of Hollidaysburg and Susan Judy Port of Erie; seven grandchildren: Julie Ebersole, Bruce Hileman, Tiffany Mooney, James Hileman III, Douglas Williams, Jayme Hileman and Adam Hileman; four great-grandchildren: Jacob, Austin, Maliya and Chelsea; two brothers: Dennis and Mark, both of Hollidaysburg; and four sisters: Oletha Myers of Martinsburg, June Kelley of Tyrone, Carol Loucks of Altoona and Paula Keithley of Williamsburg.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lynette Williams.
Jim was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He retired from Butterick after 33 years of service as a lithographer. He was a lifetime member of Geeseytown Lutheran Church, serving on the church council for many years, and he enjoyed Bible study and hymn sings. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania State Beekeepers Association and 2 Cs and a Bee, served on farm show committees and was a caretaker of Geeseytown Cemetery for more than 50 years.
Jim enjoyed hunting, Belleville auctions every Wednesday and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Geeseytown Lutheran Church by Pastor Mike Rhyne.
