Ronald James Burgess, 67, Altoona, died Saturday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Donald E. Burgess and Mary Ilene (Hufford) Burgess Royer.
Surviving are a son, Dion James of Corning, Ohio; two granddaughters: Caitlyn and Kaylee Burgess; a brother, Terry L. and wife, Nancy, of York; a sister, Barbara Benton and husband, Chuck, of Altoona; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Donald, on Jan. 27, 2013.
Ronald was a graduate of Tyrone High School and El Camino College. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 82nd Airborne during the Vietnam War. He was employed as an electrical engineer for Northrop Grumman Corp., retiring in June 2010 after more than 40 years of service.
Ronald enjoyed working out at the gym, going out to eat, music and reading his Bible.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday. Interment with military honors will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
