Eloi B. "The Wolfman" Abel, 89, Hastings, died Saturday at Van Zandt VA Medical Center.
He was born in Hastings, son of the late Benjamin and Mary (Strittmatter) Abel.
Surviving are a daughter, Debbie of Altoona; a brother, Clayton of Beaumont, Texas; and a sister, Dorthy Falcone of Bridgeton, N.J.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret M. (Stasik), formerly of Coalport; two brothers: Walter and Patrick; four sisters: Amelia Yachtis, Theresa Yahner, Edna Becker and Mildred Gleydura; and his beloved Pekinese, Yoda.
Eloi was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during WWII. He had worked for Wolf Furniture and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He also belonged to the VFW, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans, and he loved to camp, fish, do leather crafting work and play bingo.
Friends will be received from 10:30 until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass today, July 17, 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Father Thaddeus Rettger, O.S.B., officiating. Interment will be held at the church cemetery.
Those who wish may make memorial donations for Masses.
