LEADING OFF: The Pirates promoted RHP Zack Thornton back to Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday. Thornton started the season with the Curve, spent most of June with the Indians and made three appearances in Altoona before being promoted on Sunday. Thornton pitched on Sunday for the Indians, allowing three runs on three hits in three innings.
SAFE AT FIRST: 3B Adalberto Santos extended his hitting streak to 10 games, which is just two games shy of INF Justin Howard's season-high 12 game streak. Santos went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Sunday.
STEALING SECOND: Former Curve INF Quincy Latimore, who is now with Akron, appeared in Sunday's game. It was the second time he has appeared against the Curve in the series. He went 0-for-3 on Thursday and went 0-for-2 on Sunday. Latimore replaced Jose Ramirez, who was injured in a collision in the fifth inning.
ROUNDING THIRD: The Curve walked away winning three of the four games against Akron. It's the first time the Curve have won a series since they swept New Hampshire in three games from June 18 to June 20.
HEADING HOME: The Curve return home today, taking on Bowie for three games and then Erie for four. The Baysox swept the Curve earlier this season, and the SeaWolves, who were just in Altoona, won three straight to close out a five-game series before the All-Star break.
