AKRON, Ohio - Jameson Taillon looked like anything but the No. 2 pitching prospect in the Pirates organization on Saturday night.
Taillon, No. 2 in the system as ranked by Baseball America, allowed 10 runs in just 3 1/3 innings pitched as the Curve fell to Akron, 10-3, before 8,056 at Canal Park on Saturday.
The 10 runs gave up were a career-high for the No. 2 overall pick in 2010. The most he had given up before Saturday was eight runs when he was with Single-A Bradenton last season. Taillon allowed 13 hits in the loss, his seventh this season.
Taillon has not picked up a win since May 24 when he beat Richmond, pitching five innings.
The Aeros quickly shelled Taillon, scoring five runs in the first inning. Four of the runs came before the Curve could record an out. Taillon then gave up five more runs in the fourth inning. Jesus Aguliar's three-run homer ended the Taillon's night.
