Jane E. (Mattern) Myers, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Niagara Falls, N.Y., for 50 years, died Sunday at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Gaysport, daughter of Jeremiah Charles and Mary Blanche (Duganne) Mattern. She married Chester A. Myers on Oct. 26, 1954, at Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg, and he died March 4, 1993, after having shared 39 years of marriage.
Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Ann Davis and husband, Michael B., in Portugal; a stepdaughter, Gail M. Russo and husband, Joseph, in Florida; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Joseph, Jerre and Richard Mattern.
Jane was a 1932 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a 1936 graduate of Indiana State Teachers College.
She taught at Gaysport Elementary School for 19 years. She was a member of Altoona Alliance Church and a former member of Niagara Falls Alliance Church.
Jane was a volunteer teacher and board member of Child Evangelism Fellowship in Niagara Falls for 20 years.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Altoona Alliance Church, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. by the Revs. Tim McGarvey and Tim Harrison. Interment will be at Newry Lutheran Cemetery.
