Richard Jacob Frederick, 83, rural Martinsburg, passed away Friday evening at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Lakemont, son of the late J. Jacob and Ada Gertrude (Miller) Frederick. He married E. Louise Hamilton on Jan. 24, 1948, in Williamsburg.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Audrey Stern (husband, David) of rural Martinsburg and Linda Brown (husband, Tom) of rural Roaring Spring; a son, Larry (wife, Sharon) of rural Martinsburg; six grandchildren: Mary Ann, Robert, Lori, Jennifer, Angela and Eric; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Carper of Martinsburg; and a brother, Wayne of Martinsburg.
Richard was a 1948 graduate of Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg. He was a lifelong dairy farmer where, along with his son, he had owned and operated Rich Lou Farms near Martinsburg.
Richard was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg, where he was a former member and past president of church council. He was a member of the board of directors of Fairview Cemetery Association, Martinsburg, and a former director of Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg. He also was a former leader of Morrisons Cove 4-H Club and a former member and leader of numerous dairy related organizations.
Richard enjoyed showing dairy cattle and family gatherings.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, with Pastor Scott E. Schul officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. The family prefers memorial contributions be given to St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
