First, I would like to thank letter writer Ed Leipold (June 19) for voting for the past 60 years.
It's always a pleasure to see people who take their civic duties seriously. Unfortunately, he has been voting under the assumption that he has all the facts, or at least that is the tone set in his letter.
To call this president the worst "bar none" shows a level of ignorance that is truly unacceptable.
Leipold is saying that Obama is worse than John Tyler, who after being handed the office of president championed the cause of slavery. With those words, he is saying Obama is worse than Warren Harding, who said, "I am not fit for this office and should never have been here."
This is the same Warren Harding who was understood to back both supporters and enemies of our entry into the League of Nations, the same Harding who was the proverbial yes man.
"Bar none" means that Obama is worse than James Buchanan, who did not even attempt to stop secession in the south or stand up to slavery.
I do not agree with every choice Obama has made. I do not agree with some of the policies he has pushed forward, but there is no way that he is the worst president we have ever seen.
Everyone has the right to an opinion and to have their opinion heard, but please do not pass it off as fact.
Do some research, learn about the topics and try to actually understand what is going on before preaching your word as gospel. Every American also has the right to equality in all things. This means not restricting marriage benefits to only certain groups but offering them to all.
Finally, we as a nation do not need any particular God in our laws.
According to God's law, rebellious, disobedient children are to be stoned to death by parents, and slavery is an acceptable practice.
We have come a long way from those days, and Congress has made many laws that contradict those words.
Some of us may not have an open mind or understand what is happening, but do some research and get some facts before you claim that we should turn around and head backwards.
