Timothy Ross McGuire, 60, Cresson, passed away Sunday at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Francis and Hilda (Strawmyer) McGuire.
Surviving are his wife, Lee Ann (Moore); a daughter, Mary Borlie (Steve) of Lilly; two grandchildren: Samantha and Collin; 12 siblings: Gerard (Bernadette), Jane McClellan, Patti Dabaghi, Mary Guzic, Margaret Earhart (Randy), Grace, Donna Brooks (Billy), James, Zita Gonos (Andy), Hazel Marston (Craig), Monica Herrin (Clarke) and Sandra Kee (David); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, John; a brother, Harry; two brothers-in-law, Bill Guzic and Michael McClellan; a niece, Christa; and a great-nephew, Max.
Tim retired from Norfolk Southern and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and a third-degree member of St. Ann's Council, Knights of Columbus, both of Cresson.
He was an active member of his community, volunteering at local fundraisers, church dinners and firemen's carnivals.
He loved the people and they loved him; he
will be greatly missed by many.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Legion of Mary will recite the rosary at 3 p.m.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at St. Aloysius Church by
the Rev. Malachi Van Tassell.
Private committal will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery with military graveside rites by Cresson American Legion, Sankertown VFW and other local veteran organizations.
In lieu of flowers, at Tim's request, do an act of kindness for someone in your community in his honor.
