AKRON, Ohio - If Adalberto Santos hadn't stepped off the bag, he might have scored the tying run.
If the Curve hadn't allowed four runs in the first, they might not have trailed late, but Akron sniffed out a late rally, winning game one of a doubleheader, 7-6, at Canal Park on Saturday.
Game 2 did not start until 10:30 p.m. and was not over by press time.
Santos, who was on second, stepped off the bag and couldn't get back in time after Charlie Cutler lined out to Jose Ramirez. The double play ended a two-run seventh after the Curve pulled within one late.
Austin Adams held the Curve off in the seventh, getting his third save as Brett Brach (5-4) got the win. Eliecer Navarro got the loss for the Curve.
The Curve have now fallen to 12 games under .500, losing their last nine of 10.

After Navarro gave up four runs in the first, the Curve allowed just three runs. At the plate, the Curve bats came alive in the final two innings, scoring four runs in the sixth and seventh inning.
The Curve had a runner in scoring position with one out, Santos, but the Cutler line out brought the game to an end.
