Lydia S. McCalpin, 91, passed away Tuesday morning at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Pittsburgh, daughter of Daniel and Francesca (Turiano) Shento. She married Maxwell W. McCalpin Jr. on May 27, 1946, in Pittsburgh, and he preceded her in death on June 17, 2007.
Surviving are a son, Michael (Karen) of Latrobe; four grandchildren: Matthew McCalpin (Beth), Mark McCalpin (Teri), Melanie McCalpin Park (Doug) and Kelley Myers (Brian); seven great-grandchildren: Taylor McCalpin, Tresten McCalpin, Madison Longo, Emily McCalpin, Nathan McCalpin, Evelyn Myers and Kathryn Myers; and two sisters: Anita Russo and Florence Reighard, both of Pittsburgh.
She was preceded in death by a son, Brian, in 1981.
Lydia was a graduate of Westinghouse High School. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed cooking, especially homemade Italian dishes and sauces.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, by Father Anthony Legarski. Committal will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
