Barbara H. Erickson, 89, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away Sunday morning at Golden LivingCenter-Hillview following an extended illness.
She was born in Pittsburgh, daughter of John and Barbara (Madas) Hresan. She married veterinarian Dr. Robert A. Erickson April 11, 1946, in El Paso, Texas, and he died June 2, 1981.
Surviving are a son: Andrew (Debi) Erickson of Bedford; four daughters: Barbara Stump (Ernest) of Hollidaysburg, Connie Homola (Steve) of Crestwood, Ky., Frances Erickson (Terrill Dorr) of Mount Holly, Md. and Susan Rickabaugh (Emanuel) of Altoona; a brother, John (Shirley) Hresan of Cumberland, Va.; six grandchildren: Ben and Mike Homola, Erik and Jordan Stump, and Emanuel and Jessica Rickabaugh; and four great-grandchildren: Alaina and Andrew Stump and Olivia and Presley Rickabaugh.
Barbara was a 1940 graduate of Schenley High School and a 1943 graduate of Montefiore Nursing School. She was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving as an Army nurse. She retired from Presbyterian Home as a registered nurse.
Barbara had attended Grace Bible Church. She was a member of the Hollidaysburg Women's Club and enjoyed playing bridge and reading.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service with military honors Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Grace Bible Church. Interment will be in Alto-Reste Cemetery.
