Shirley L. Wyland, 82, Antis Township, died Saturday evening at Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
She was born in Burnham, daughter of the late William and Zelda Fox. She married Kenneth E. Wyland on Dec. 19, 1950, in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Jennifer E. Alexander and husband, James, ofa Bellwood; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth A.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Gladys Trostle and Helen Foust.
Shirley formerly was employed at Puritan Clothing Manufacturing before retiring in 1996 as a cafeteria cook at Bellwood-Antis School District. She was known as "Grandma Shirley" to the high school students, whom she cared for very much and built lasting lifelong relationships.
She was a member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church, Altoona.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
