Mary R. Merlini, 93, a resident of Valley View Home, Altoona, formerly of Tunnelhill, died Friday at the home.
She was born in Glen White, daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (Konarsko) Stoskey (Starczewski). She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip P., on Sept. 16, 1985; a grandson, Richard MacAlarney, on Nov. 8, 2010; a son-in-law, John Ricche, on April 8, 2013, brothers: Joseph, Stanley and Michael; and sisters: Stella Zabinski and Helen Wojtarowicz.
She is survived by children: Mary Catherine Ricche, Rose Ann (Terry) MacAlarney and Joseph (Susan); grandchildren: Philip (Andrea) Ricche, Susan (David) Salter, Mark (Laura) Ricche, Kevin (Emily) Ricche, Jeffrey (Rochelle) MacAlarney, Tammy MacAlarney, Ryan, Robbie and Marisa Merlini; and six great-grandchildren. She was the last member of her immediate family.
She was a member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin.
She was a member of Senior Citizens.
Mary was an avid bingo player, and she enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards and Scrabble.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Monday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where a vigil service will be held Sunday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, the Rev. Albert Ledoux, Celebrant. Committal will be at St. Patrick Cemetery.
