Phillip Franklin Bottenfield, 86, Palmyra, Maine, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away Wednesday morning at St. Joseph Hospital, Bangor, Maine.
He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of Joseph and Sarah Ann (McTigue) Bottenfield. He was twice married, first to Helen Marie Steinbrunner in Hollidaysburg in November 1953; she passed away Jan. 1, 1986. He then married Shirley Bottenfield of Palmyra, Maine, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons: Phillip and Michael, both of Hollidaysburg; three daughters: Susan Eberlin of Lakemont, Sarah of Roaring Spring and Evelyn Weston of Elizabethtown; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Cliff in California; and a sister, Mary Lego of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Phillip.
Phillip was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He retired as owner/operator of Tel-Power in 2004 after more than 60 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, Hollidaysburg American Legion and Mount Etna Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, driving heavy equipment and antique automobiles.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, by Father Anthony Legarski. Committal will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Hollidaysburg, with military honors.
