Michael A. Black, 48, Roaring Spring, passed away Friday at Nason Hospital.
He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Michael and Marie (Claycomb) Black. He married Wanda J. Clapper on July 31, 1998, in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are his wife; a sister, Michelle of Claysburg; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Michael was a 1982 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School and also graduated from Vale Training Solutions with a degree in heavy equipment mechanics. He retired as a heavy equipment mechanic from New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. in 2011, and he was an active member of the New Enterprise Stone & Lime Relay For Life team.
Michael was a member of Lower Claar Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR racing, camping, watching TV, stopping at the Milky Way for a thick strawberry shake and spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, at Lower Claar Church of the Brethren, Pastor Charles Riley officiating. Interment will be at Lower Claar Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
