I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that a bipartisan group of senators came together to create a new plan for comprehensive immigration reform.
This approach is different than previously proposed immigration legislation. It's better and one that will finally set our country on the right path to creating a real solution to a growing problem.
The policies proposed will secure our borders and provide a path to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented currently living across the U.S. by requiring these immigrants to register in the system, pay their fair share of taxes and contribute to Social Security and Medicare.
That's good news for our economy and for our national security as well.
I urge our Senator Toomey to embrace this legislation and join with the growing group of senators who are throwing their support behind this plan. This is what we need here in Pennsylvania and throughout our great country.
