Paul C. "Red" Charles Jr., 84, Altoona, went to be with his Lord Sunday.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Paul C. Sr. and Elva (Dibert) Charles. He married Gladys Cunningham in Duncansville.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters: Sherry Dodson of Altoona and Sandra Charles of Cresson; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Charles of Hollidaysburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul C. Charles III.
Mr. Charles attended Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona.
Paul was a graduate of Altoona High School and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired from Ward Trucking in 1990 after 35 years of service. He was a volunteer at the Altoona Hospital for 15 years.
Paul enjoyed Penn State football and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting with his grandson, Mike.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Paula Schmitt officiating.
