Alexander J. Catich, 90, Tyrone, died Sunday at Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone.
He was born in Tyrone, son of George and Caroline (Stephen) Catich. He married Leora M. Cowfer on Sept. 15, 1944, in Sebring, Fla., and she died April 24, 1992.
Surviving are a son, John and wife, Jackie, of Tyrone; a daughter, Caroline Weaver and husband, Gary, of Tyrone; six grandchildren: Steve, Chris and Trent Catich and Gary, Scott and Todd Weaver; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Fink; and two brothers: Stanley and Edward.
Alex was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, serving as a lieutenant. He was the last living member of Troop B, 104th Cavalry Regiment, Tyrone. He retired in 1986 from PPG, Tipton, as a fork truck driver after 16 years of service. He was a life member of the Tyrone Hookies and Tyrone VFW.
Alex enjoyed family, friends, fishing and going out to eat.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, the Rev. Aden Wertz officiating. Interment with veteran's honors by the Tyrone Honor Guard will follow at Bald Eagle Cemetery.
