Mildred M. Marlin, 91, Martinsburg, formerly of Hollidaysburg, went home to be with the Lord Thursday at Homewood at Martinsburg.
She was born in West Loop, daughter of the late Edison R. and Susie F. (Friedenbloom) Wertz. She married George W. Marlin, and he died April 13, 1977.
Surviving are four children: Joan Butler (Harry) of Hollidaysburg, Vivian "Vick" Ritchey (Thomas) of Imler, George of Hollidaysburg and Susie Strayer (Charles) of East Freedom; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Lynch; a grandson, Thomas L. Ritchey; four brothers: Melvin, Wilmer, Ralph and Edison; and four sisters: Della White, Ruth Gates, Corena Leasure and Lutitia Shoop.
Mildred worked at Loungeray, Tritex Sportswear and Saf-T-Bak a total of 30 years. She was also a notary. She was a member of God's Missionary Church in Roaring Spring, where she taught an adult Sunday school class and served as church treasurer. She was a former member of West Loop United Missionary Church, where she served as a youth leader, Sunday school teacher and licensed lay minister.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, May 20, 2013, at West Loop United Missionary Church, Pastor Charles Brewbaker officiating. Interment will be at Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to her churches or to the charity of your choice.
