Margaret A. Schalles, 91, Altoona, died Monday afternoon at her residence.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Paul Warren and Ada M. (Hammond) Figart. She married Albert Blowers Schalles on Aug. 22, 1939, in Cumberland, Md., and he died Nov. 15, 1969.
Surviving are three children: M. Carol Rhodes of Altoona, Albert L. and wife, Judith, of Laporte, Colo., and Colleen A. Shives and husband, Robert, of Altoona; three grandchildren: Kimberly A. Trostle of Altoona, Heather Lee Schalles of Summerdale and Matther L. Schalles of Enola; a great-grandson, Robert M. Heck of Summerdale; and two siblings: William T. Figart and wife, Shirley, of Barnegat, N.J., and Beverly R. Cox of Altoona.
She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Warren; a grandson, Sonny James Trostle; and three siblings: Paul W. Figart, Betty J. Harris and Earl C. Figart.
Margaret was a graduate of Altoona High School. She retired in 1982 from the children's department at Mason's Department Store. She had been a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church since 1936 and was the treasurer of the Greenwood Cemetery Association.
Margaret enjoyed embroidery and gardening, but her greatest joy was her family.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at Greenwood United Methodist Church, the Rev. Norman Huff officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greenwood United Methodist Church, 1505 E. Walton Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
