Eleanor Ruth Lane Baker, 86, Altoona, died Sunday.
She was born in Altoona, one of 11 children of Theodore and Ruth Rebecca (Mentzer) Geist. She was twice married, first to Charles W. Lane in Altoona, and he preceded her in death in January 1987. She then married William Baker, and he died in 2010.
Surviving are seven children: Charles "Bill" Lane II (Deborah), Rebecca A. DelBaggio and Sharon K. Wackerman, all of Altoona, Mary Suzanne Elliott (Don) of Indianapolis, Ind., David Theodore Lane (Leilani) of Bowie, Md., Nancy Jane Mahlman (Michael) of Portsmouth, Va., and Kathleen Joanne Chilcote (Terry) of Mechanicsville, Va.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John DelBaggio.
Ruth was a 1944 graduate of Altoona High School. She was employed at Sheraton Gift Shop for more than 20 years and previously had worked as an accountant at Gable's Department Store. She enjoyed bowling, bingo at Graystone and especially spending time with her family.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, the Rev. Eli Hess officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
