Agnes Helen (Knopic) Granlund
Agnes graduated from Johnsonburg High School. In 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, Rodger Granlund. Agnes and Rodger lived in Nashville, Tenn., for a year and then in Oak Ridge, Tenn., while Rodger was on a training fellowship. In 1960, they moved to their present home in State College.
Agnes was a homemaker who devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She was known by her family and friends as a master bargain hunter and loved going to garage sales and thrift shops. Her shopping was seldom for herself. She was especially pleased when she could find a special gift that matched a friend's or family member's special interest.
She was a volunteer at Centre Community Hospital (now Mount Nittany Medical Center), where she served as chairwoman of the Emergency Room Volunteers and trained many new volunteers. She was recognized as the Hospital Volunteer of the Year in 1985 for her many years of volunteer work.
