Bartholomew J. "Bart" Castrichini, 92, Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, passed away peacefully Monday at Altoona Regional.
He was born in Altoona, son of Luigi and Vincenza (Tricone) Castrichini. He married Ann Bultman, and she died Sept. 5, 2005.
Surviving are two daughters: Julie (John) Rotureau and Torry (Tawfiq) Hodaly, both of Columbia, S.C.; six grandchildren: Katie, Jake, Rebecca, Sophie, Richard and Michael; three great-grandchildren: Bella, Bailey Anne and Amy; a sister, Mary Castrichini-Roessing of Altoona; a brother, John of Altoona; and a sister-in-law, Carmel Castrichini of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, John Elliott Rotureau Jr.; two sisters: Emanuella Palomba and Mae Sardella; and three brothers: Luigi Jr., Thomas and James.
Bart was a graduate of Altoona High School. He served in the U.S. Navy and Merchant Marine as a lieutenant during WWII and the Korean War. He was employed as a mail handler for the Washington Post, and he was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
Friends will be received from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.
