Marla Jo Marasco-Hoover, 42, Altoona, died Tuesday at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Martin J. and Carol J. (Colabove) Marasco. She married Steven J. Hoover on Nov. 1, 1997.
Surviving are her husband; her parents; two sons: Zachary S. and Owen J. at home; two daughters: Stevie Jo and Marty J. at home; three brothers: M.J. Marasco (Jackie), Marcus A. Marasco (Tasha) and Mart T. Marasco (Cameron); four sisters: Martine C. Marasco and Jerry Keene, Marina M. Nartatez (Jay) and Marlana M. Miller (Ned), all of Altoona, and Marissa M. Redding (Andy) of Hanover; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; her father-in-law, Gerald Hoover of Duncansville; a brother-in-law, Tim Hoover in South Carolina; and a sister-in-law, Brenda Hainley of Duncansville.
She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents and her mother-in-law.
Marla was a 1988 graduate of Altoona Area High School and a 1992 graduate of Penn State University. She was an account manager for Carpenter Co., and she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
Marla enjoyed sewing, and most especially she was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister and aunt and enjoyed spending time with her children and family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
