Dorothea M. "Dot" Lauber, 93, The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, formerly of 118 40th St., Altoona, passed away Saturday at the home after a brief illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Charles and Edna (Greiner) Rife. She married Alfred John Lauber, and he preceded her in death Feb. 1, 1990.
Surviving are three children: Fred and wife, Carol, of Providence Forge, Va., Barbara Ballas of Altoona and Larry and wife, Patty, of Canoe Creek; eight grandchildren: Ed Ballas, Larry Lauber, Marc Lauber, Karen George, Josh Lauber, Scott Herrick, Richard Warren and Bryan Warran; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Ballas; and a sister, Elveria Knote.
Dot was a longtime volunteer at Bon Secours Hospital and a member of the Red Hat Society.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, in Stevens Memorial Chapel by Pastor Timothy Guyer. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.
