Robert D. Haid, 49, Palmdale, Calif., formerly of Altoona and Roaring Spring, passed away April 30, 2013, after a battle with cancer.
He was the son of Sharon (Runyeon) Etters and the late William H. Haid. He met his wife, Karyn Stanczyk of Evergreen Park, Ill., in 1985, and the two married Oct. 3, 1998.
Surviving are his wife and their dogs, Lil'Bit and Blackie, at home; his mother of Sugarland, Texas; five sisters: Margaret Weyant of Sugarland, Texas, Rebecca Haid of State College, Lisa Curtis of State College, Victoria Haid of Osceola Mills and Sherri Etters of Hollidaysburg. He had many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers: Eloise A. Runyeon and Julia V. (Hine) Haid; and his beloved dogs: Bear and Jewels.
Robert was a graduate of Central High School and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the City University of Seattle. He served our country in the U.S. Army, stationed at Darmstadt, Germany, for four years, and stateside he served in the Army Reserve for another four years.
Robert had worked in the oil and lube industry since 1996. He was employed as a district manager for Jiffy Lube International and as an information technician and business analyst for Shell Oil. He worked for many years in the Chicago area and most recently in Houston, Texas, and California.
There will be an informal memorial to celebrate Robert's life at 4 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Champion Life Church, 1314 12th St., Altoona.
