Rodney B. Singer, 58, Hollidaysburg, died unexpectedly Thursday in Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of Peggy A. (Hauser) Singer and the late Barry R. Singer. He married Georgianna D. Keiper on Feb. 1, 1975, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage; his mother; a daughter, Ashley N. Reilly and husband, David, of Altoona; three sons: Christopher B. and wife, Stephanie, of Glendale, Ariz., Benjamin R. and wife, Stacey, of Duncansville and Shawn A. and fiancee, Sarah, of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren: Ryan, Carson, Bryan and Alyson; two sisters: Debra A. Brunner and Brenda K. Singer, both of Altoona; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father in April 2002.
Rodney was a graduate of Christ the King High School in Okinawa, Japan, and also graduated from the LPN program at the Altoona Area Vo-Tech School in 1980. He was employed with Mercy Hospital, Altoona, for 28 years and for eight years with Homewood at Martinsburg and was currently working for Skills of Central Pennsylvania Inc.
Rodney was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg. He enjoyed tennis and basketball and was an avid Penn State, Notre Dame and Washington Redskins football fan. He was passionate in planting and caring for the floral landscape around his home.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, by the Rev. Greg Harbaugh. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
